An autodidact is one who is self-taught. Individuals with the trait of autodidaction are able to develop their abilities in areas
of their choosing, independently of instructional support. Each point in this skill can be allocated to allow one to specialize in
a skill a degree further than one would be able to otherwise.

For example, with one point of this trait, one could become a first-degree sword specialist without any ordinary access to
specialization in that skill, or one could specialize to third degree in first aid when one only has specialty access in that skill
to the second degree. With two points, one could specialize two degrees higher in one skill than would otherwise be possible, or
one degree higher in two skills, and so on. However, if a specialty is forbidden or inaccessible to one for whatever reason,
autodidaction does not allow one to get past that.

Autodidaction can only be used with skills that would normally be taught by means of the intellectual, physical training, and
procedural pedagogies, and cannot be used for abilities acquired by body alteration, mind alteration, or spirit alteration. The
pedagogy appropriate to a skill or ability is noted in its help.

OOC Incarnos-Only Skill Display
Usage: show autodidaction

Displays the current way your autodidaction points are being used, showing the skills to which points are assigned and the number
of points assigned to each, as well as the number of points available for use.

Set Autodidactic Specialty

General-Use Skill Setting
Usage: set autodidactic specialty in <skill> to <degree>

Devotes some of your autodidaction points, if you have any (see 'help autodidaction'), to a particular skill. This is not the
same thing as specializing in the skill; you would use 'set specialty degree' for that. If you did 'set autodidactic specialty in
sword to 1', for example, what that would do is give you specialty access to one additional degree in the sword skill, using up
one of your autodidaction points for the purpose. You could then use 'set specialty degree' to increase your sword specialty,
provided you had a specialty point available with which to do so. You can reassign your autodidaction points as often as you
like; simply set your degree to a lower number or zero (or use 'clear autodidactic specialty') to free up autodidaction points,
which can then be allocated elsewhere.

You will usually be able to assign your autodidactic specialties to not only skills that you presently know, but also ones that
you knew in the past.
