As of this past week I reached Elder rank with my [[Deck Knight]] Aedarene. Not sure if there was any reason to believe it wasn't possible (and therefore worth putting in the main article), but figured I'd put it here and timestamp it in case anyone came looking. One bit of advice: do the quests before joining and verify that your companion got credit for them. Some types of followers may not be capable of getting kill credit for crimson druid (my [[Dreamwalker]] and my [[Deck Knight]] did, but my Dragon did not (though it could have been from insufficient damage inflicted, will update this note when I get around to trying again).
