The Ordo Maleficus is divided into generations called saeculum. The highest saeculum is the Primus. The further from the Primus a witch is, the more affected their powers become. Witches will automatically be promoted to higher saeculum as openings become available.

Also of note, the Primus saeculum has the sole responsibility of initiating new members into the Ordo Maleficus. Each witch becomes the progeny of the Primus that initiated them.
