The ability to enchant an ordinary wooden shield with extraordinary protective capabilities. After some time, this enchantment will consume the object. - While wielding the shield, it will absorb some of the attack from whatever is fighting you. It will be most effective against ordinary attacks, least effective against attacks that indirectly target one's biological integrity (such as disease and poison), and moderately effective against other sorts of magickal and elemental attacks.

Example:

"Your square light-lined oaken shield pulses with blinding brilliance as it asborbs some of a bright-green-winged blue-skinned hermaphroditic sprite's attack."

Usage

concentrate on being enveloped by <the desired shield>

Casting shield shell on a willow shield

    You concentrate on being enveloped by willow shield.

    You link your mind with Hjalmr's animal one.

    Both your amber eyes and Hjalmr's black eyes sparkle softly for a brief moment.

    You stare intently at your willow kite shield.

    You let steady, protective energies flow from you into your willow kite shield, and you feel
it responds by reachings back, eager to somehow protect you.

    Thin lines of white light begin to shine from the edges and segments of your willow kite
shield.

    This is a kite shield made of hickory.  The quality of its craftsmanship is good.  It bears
the craftmark of Lyrdor of Liathyr, a small engraved mark resembling a knife entwined with a leafy
branch.  You appraise it at fifteen gold.  
    It is in perfect condition.  
    It looks about six and nine tenths dimins across and a twentieth of a dimin long.  It weighs
about two and eleven twentieths dekans.

    After a moment, the knowledge that the hickory kite shield is composed entirely of hickory
drifts into your mind like a long-forgotten memory.

weighs about two and a twentieth dekans.

    After a moment, the knowledge that the light-lined hickory kite shield is composed of
eighty-four percent hickory, sixteen percent dweomer, and less than one percent light drifts into
your mind like a long-forgotten memory.
