Hedgehog is a nice companion. Once you got the piercing resistance bonus, you can rub the little beast against you to raise it. Rubbed long enough, this is also an useful way to remove your cursed rings:

   You grasp your brown female hedgehog with your tail.

   You rub your brown female hedgehog on your right claw.

   Your large gold ring is torn from you.

   Your right claw falls off.

   You lose your large gold ring with your right claw.

Well, you will need, of course, to regrow your lost limbs.
