The deathroach is an enormous, dangerous relative of the common cockroach. They are not typically aggressive, but are tough and will defend themselves tenaciously with their extremely sharp mandibles. Deathroaches are most commonly found in remote and abandoned locales, since despite their prodigious breeding capacity and the resistance to toxins and disease that they share with their smaller cousins, their overgrown stature robs them of one of the cockroach's greatest assets: the ability to hide in tiny, inaccessible spaces. As a result, they are hunted to extinction any time they encroach upon civilized settlements, a task that can be difficult and hazardous but which is made at least possible by the sheer size of the creatures.

This appears to be a huge cockroach with a shiny black carapace and a whitish pattern on its back resembling a skull. The thing has a vicious-looking oversized set of mandibles.
