Plural: Ani

   Ani are muscular, ring-shaped organs which are connected to the expulsive
end of the digestive tract and serve primarily to regulate the evacuation of
excrement.  In contrast with cloacae, ani typically only serve as the terminal
opening for the digestive tract, where cloacae usually also connect to the
reproductive and urinary tracts.
