Atman Stage Atman stage is an out-of-character concept meant to approximately measure the level of expertise you, as a player, have with Lost Souls in general -- as distinct from the level of a given incarnos, which measures that particular character's progression. You usually shouldn't have to worry about your atman stage, as it's mainly employed behind the scenes. For the most part, it's used to make things a bit easier on new players, both by lessening some game consequences for them and by adapting some interface elements to them. There are also some things newer players aren't allowed to do, like set captions. If you're tempted to try to manipulate your atman stage for any particular purpose, please be assured that doing so will be highly unproductive and you'll get much more mileage out of manipulating other aspects of the MUD. The atman stages are new, beginning, intermediate, advanced, and expert. See Also: atman, neophyte
