Talk:Xailor's Speedwalks
From LSWiki
If you find an error in any of the aliases, I would appreciate if you do not correct the mistake, and instead post your finding here in this discussion. I only ask this because your edit may or may not leave the alias in an optimized form. Thank you. - Thenewguy 3:14, 22 March 2014 (GMT)
It may be worth re-evaluating some of these - some are optimal in travel time, but not in text length, and could be optimal for both. I just verified that the Temple of Discord, for instance, could be shortened to "go 21n, 12ne, neu, 15ne" and "go 15sw, swd, 12sw, 21s" (and if someone finds a route that puts the vertical change in between the diagonal/vertical portions or outright drops it, it could be shorter still). I had terrain following off; if the user has it on it can be as simple as "go 21n, 28ne" and "go 28sw, 21s". Note that all of these maintain the path length of 49, as seen in the current speedwalk. - Eternaleye 15:59, 15 August 2014 (EDT)
Eternaleye I like the fact that you're looking for ways to improve this list, and I do understand your point. The speedwalk from Losthaven to the Temple of Discordia, however, is not a good example. The reason the alias is so strange is because most (not all) aliases from Losthaven to an area on the continent of Almeria avoid water (this is done because water can be harmful to certain characters, especially newbie characters). That being said, your point still stands as I am sure that there are certain aliases listed here that could be optimized in both text length and travel time and still avoid water. I also want to mention that I do not want to list aliases that work only with terrain following mode on; I would rather sacrifice text length for an alias that never fails, regardless of your terrain following mode preference. While I'm here I would also like to thank all the people that took the time to edit this list, even if it was a very small edit. Thank you. - Thenewguy 4:00, 2 September 2014 (GMT)
LH to Shadow Tower alias needs to be looked at. Without intangibility, I get stuck near the very end. -Candur 9:43, 27 June 2015 (EST)
Candur I tried to fix the alias from Losthaven to Shadow Tower but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Near the very end there is a lot of climbing needed which makes me think that maybe with intangibility on you don't have to deal with the climbing, but when it is off you may get "stuck" when you accidentally slip while climbing. If I am wrong, I would appreciate a screenshot so that I can fix my mistake. Thanks. - Thenewguy 11:28, 14 July 2015 (GMT)
