When the power of the rune b'ryzmkel is channeled into a living being, the
effect is one that is almost unnoticeable -- unless the power is directed into
one that is close to death.  With the body's strength nearly depleted, and its
natural defenses nearly gone, it is a trivial matter to channel an unnatural
chill through the Ring of Power, using that energy to destroy what remains of
the bearer's opponent.
