The byakhee are creatures which dwell in the outer voids of the Prime
plane and are used by some of the lloigor, most notably Nyarlathotep,
as servitors. Though they possess wings, they fly primarily by means
of the hune, a weird organ in their opisthosoma (their insect-abdomen-
like lower body) that interacts with invisible fields of force to
   propel them.

Development Information: The byakhee race was created by Chaos, who
wishes to credit H.P. Lovecraft as inspiring this work, and is
   maintained by Lost Souls.

This creature looks like some foul hybrid of bird and insect, being vaguely anthropoid in outline but with a bulbous, protruding lower body. It has an alternately chitinous and fibrous, almost feathery outer covering, all black in color, with large sharp claws and a nasty-looking half-beaklike, half-sawtoothed jaw. Its wings are thin and leathery, looking incapable of supporting flight, but fly the thing does nonetheless. This is one of the byakhee, creatures which dwell in the outer voids of the Prime plane and are used by some of the lloigor, primarily Nyarlathotep, as servitors. They fly primarily by means of the hune, a weird organ in their opisthosoma (their insect-abdomen-like lower body) that interacts with invisible fields of force to propel them.

After a moment, the knowledge that the byakhee is composed of seventy-nine
percent flesh, twelve percent melanaster, eight percent cartilage, and two
percent dust drifts into your mind like a long-forgotten memory.
