All of the affiliations -- guilds, associations, and offices -- of Lost Souls have affiliation types, which are general categories of behavior, goals, methods or priorities that describe an affiliation. Most affiliations also have incompatibilities; for instance, someone with a nomadic lifestyle, wandering incessantly from place to place, may not be able to join an affiliation based on being a town guard.

• Altruist affiliations are incompatible with evil and malevolent affiliations.
• Ascetic affiliations are incompatible with drunkard, hedonist and libertine affiliations.
• Atheist affiliations are incompatible with devotional and priest affiliations.
