All of the affiliations -- guilds, associations, and offices -- of Lost Souls have affiliation types, which are general categories of behavior, goals, methods or priorities that describe an affiliation. Most affiliations also have incompatibilities; for instance, someone with a nomadic lifestyle, wandering incessantly from place to place, may not be able to join an affiliation based on being a town guard.

Altruist affiliations are incompatible with evil and sadist affiliations.

Ascetic affiliations are incompatible with drunkard, hedonist and libertine affiliations.

Atheist affiliations are incompatible with devotional and priest affiliations.

Evil affiliations are incompatible with good affiliations.
