A hurgkthorg is a strunth regarded by most shoggothim as a necessary evil at best, an abomination at worst: a neural cluster dedicated to producing the emotions common to ghaa'ghu races and inflicting them on one's consciousness. While this may seem an unmitigated horror, unfortunately there is a practical consideration to take into account: should one need to interact with ghaa'ghu, it is extremely difficult to understand them -- and thereby successfully manipulate them -- from the standpoint of rational thought alone; truly comprehending their emotions requires experiencing them.
