A trofhu-ulwu is a gland that produces both alkali which can be used offensively (given a suitable delivery system, such as a plebgl) and secretions which alter the basic processes by which your carculgnath operates so that they rely on more alkaline substances, which makes you more readily able to absorb alkali harmlessly (or even beneficially).
