- | A while ago there was some discussion on the guild totem about the pros and cons of this guild, as well as ideas that several players were coming up with as possibilities for the rewrite. Unfortunately, messages are only stored for a certain amount of time and then purged. If we can reconstruct some of that thread here, it may help stimulate memories of the rest of the thread, as well as spawn new ideas that can be incorporated; plus, I have found that as time goes by, I can look back at some of my older ideas, rethink them, and come up with a much more solid concept.
- | From my viewpoint, the cons are rather easy to point out. Some of the spell names get a little long, so without aliasing them, it's easy to throw a typo in there. Some of the blood rarity levels make very little sense as far as the uniqueness of the blood, like how faun blood is just as potent as Amberite or Patryn blood. Then there is the matter of the trainers either being hostile, in an extremely remote location, or both.
- | The pros for this guild are rather slim at the moment. Granted that it is one of the few evil guilds, the other evil guilds far out-power the Malefici. I already have several ideas for a possible revamp (as if I weren't trying to do enough already), but input from others is always appreciated. --[[User:Bladestorm|Bladestorm]] 11:55, 29 January 2009 (EST) | + | Favor is basically gained by being in contact with unholiness. Having a high unholy taint skill raises your favor, as does being in unholy places (like the shack) and having and using unholy items. Conversely, being in contact with holiness ''drastically'' reduces favor, and it is essentially impossible to call upon guild powers on ground consecrated to holy forces. So, although the Horn of Calais and the Chalice of Cathrys are good blood foci, holding them is detrimental to guild powers, due to them both being holy objects (although they can safely be stored in backpacks without any negative effects to favor). --[[User:Esmene|Esmene]] 20:13, 2 April 2009 (EDT) |

One of the best things you can do if you are in this guild is to set your spells up to triggers/macros. This cuts down a lot of typos of the long spell names.
Also, seek out instructors. We have some odd skills that aren't taught in a lot of places. Our best instructor is Antonina, but she is often in far off planes. We can also learn a lot from Helborg, Mok, Norij, and Bercilak.
It also helps to have blood foci. Every blood focus we carry boosts our favour, which increases our spell potency. Here's a list of things that I have found raises favour.
- Shrunken heads
- our guild athame (wielded boosts even more)
- armour enchanted by a reaper
- the chalice from Bishop Rordigan -- This actually reduces favour, but is indeed a good blood focus.
- The Horn of Calais from Bartziluth's horde (also reduces favor)
- the eyestalk that Antonina wears
Favor is basically gained by being in contact with unholiness. Having a high unholy taint skill raises your favor, as does being in unholy places (like the shack) and having and using unholy items. Conversely, being in contact with holiness drastically reduces favor, and it is essentially impossible to call upon guild powers on ground consecrated to holy forces. So, although the Horn of Calais and the Chalice of Cathrys are good blood foci, holding them is detrimental to guild powers, due to them both being holy objects (although they can safely be stored in backpacks without any negative effects to favor). --Esmene 20:13, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
