 | ===Apostasy=== | ||
 | '''Slaying the faithful of Yehovah'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Anathema | ||
 | |||
 | The grave sin of apostasy is that of acting so as to cause the death or destruction of any of the faithful of Yehovah. If you, by your actions, inflict bodily harm on a worshipper of Yehovah, and that individual subsequently dies, the sin of apostasy falls upon you.
 | |||
 | This sin is generated even if the individual in question was undead or an artificial construct, should such a being somehow transcend its nature sufficiently to properly venerate Yehovah.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Bibulism=== | ||
 | '''Drinking intoxicating beverages'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The act of drinking an intoxicating beverage inflicts the sin of bibulism. Intoxication arrived at by any means other than the specific act of drinking a beverage is not relevant to this sin. If one drinks multiple times from a single beverage, each drink influences the cardinality of this sin.
 | |||
 | Be aware that many acts of bibulism are also acts of hedonism.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Concupiscence===
 | '''Engaging in lascivious and adulterous physical contact'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | When any of the parties to the sin of lascivity -- engaging in certain kinds of physical contact with a living being -- are married, and not to the other party, the adulterous nature of the interaction compounds the sin with that of concupiscence.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Discord=== | ||
 | '''Allowing chaos into one's soul'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The sin of discord is inflicted upon your soul whenever the influence of chaos within it increases. You will be able to readily sense when this occurs, excepting only if you are suffering from complete spiritual disjunction.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Errantry=== | ||
 | '''Leaving the Prime plane'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The sin of errantry occurs when one leaves the Prime plane, the proper habitation of the faithful of Yehovah. Travel to any of the realms beyond or below it distances one from Yehovah.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Fantasy=== | ||
 | '''Indulging in fantasy'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The sin of fantasy comes about through the development of the imagination, that faculty of the mind which defies the truth and goodness of the world which Lord Yehovah has provided for his faithful. The use of such mental exercises as imagining and visualizing things, as one might expect, does this, as of course does outright instruction.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Gnosis=== | ||
 | '''Studying forbidden lore'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Studying, or otherwise learning of, certain topics of forbidden lore weighs down one's soul with the sin of gnosis. For most of the faithful, the topics so designated are arcane lore, cosmology, qlippotic lore, elder lore, erotic lore, metaphysics, metapsychology, psychology, rune lore, and theology. This varies slightly for those of an ecclesiarchic axion, as cosmology and theology are not forbidden to them.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Hedonism=== | ||
 | '''Experiencing sensual pleasure'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Each experience of sensual pleasure marks you with the sin of hedonism, whether the pleasure is the result of one's own actions or caused by external agency.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Lascivity=== | ||
 | '''Engaging in lascivious physical contact'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Engaging in certain kinds of physical contact with any living being, whether you are initiating the contact or the recipient of it, results in the sin of lascivity. Specifically, the acts of caressing, fondling, groping, kissing, licking, massaging, nibbling, rubbing, squeezing, stroking, sucking, and tickling are at issue.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Mentalism=== | ||
 | '''Using unhallowed powers of the mind'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The act of calling upon unhallowed powers of the mind causes the sin of mentalism. Specifically, any time you become more experienced in the use of one or more psionic skills, your soul suffers this sin.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Nefarience=== | ||
 | '''Committing acts of evil'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Any act which influences your alignment toward evil stains your soul with the sin of nefarience.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Obtrusion=== | ||
 | '''The violation of securements'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The act of intentionally bypassing securements, physical measures meant to provide privacy and security, as by picking locks or breaking doors, brings the sin of obtrusion upon your soul.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Polytheism=== | ||
 | '''The worship of other gods'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | To venerate gods other than Yehovah causes your soul to suffer the sin of polytheism. Any act of worshipping or sacrificing to another god will bring this sin upon you.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Quiescence=== | ||
 | '''Allowing time to pass unproductively'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | It is well-known that hands left to idleness may soon turn to unhallowed work. Each span that passes without some manner of productive personal development occurring, whether to yourself as a whole or to some particular ability, brings a stain of the sin of quiescence. When this occurs, you will ordinarily feel a pang of conscience over the matter.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Rebellion=== | ||
 | '''Committing chaotic acts'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Any act which influences your alignment toward chaos inflicts the sin of rebellion upon your soul.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Sorcery=== | ||
 | '''Calling upon sorcerous forces'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The act of calling upon sorcerous forces results in the sin of sorcery. To be most specific, any time you become more experienced in the use of one or more magickal skills, other than by invoking Lord Yehovah or by being trained in invocation, kalaturgy, eideturgy or viturgy by another of His faithful, your soul suffers this sin.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Thanatism=== | ||
 | '''Slaying living beings'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The slaying of any living being marks your soul with the sin of thanatism. Specifically, if your actions directly cause bodily harm, and the being harmed subsequently dies, thanatism falls upon you.
 | |||
 | Ending the existence of undead creatures or artificial constructs does not result in the sin of thanatism.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Unsanctity=== | ||
 | '''Being tainted with unholiness'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Anathema | ||
 | |||
 | Whenever an unholy taint gains purchase within your soul, this creates the sin of unsanctity within you. You may well wonder how this sin may be properly confessed, since such forces frequently insinuate themselves into their victims in a subtle fashion. Fear not; one of the gifts that Lord Yehovah bestows upon all the faithful of His Pantarchic Church is the ability to sense immediately when such a taint comes upon one. The only condition capable of preventing this awareness is that of utter spiritual disjunction, a state devoutly to be avoided.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Vulgarity=== | ||
 | '''The use of vulgar language'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Whenever you speak certain improper words and phrases, which shall not be recounted here, this brings the sin of vulgarity upon your soul. You will always know when this has occurred, excepting only should you be in the woeful state of complete spiritual disjunction.
 | |||
 | The cardinality of the sin of vulgarity does not increase for each individual vulgar word spoken, but only for the entire act of speech in which vulgarity is present.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Wrath=== | ||
 | '''Fighting with wrath in one's heart'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The sin of wrath is brought upon one by fighting with great anger in one's heart. Specifically, every round of combat which you fight in the aggressive, reckless, rapid, all-out, or berserk combat modes inflicts this sin upon you. The only exception to this is in the case when one is, for whatever reason, in a state where one is devoid of emotion, which prevents this sin from occurring.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Xenolalia=== | ||
 | '''The use of unsanctified tongues'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Absolute | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | The use of languages other than those sanctified by the Pantarchic Church for the performance of liturgy -- Latin and Anglic -- brings the sin of xenolalia upon one's soul. Hearing or reading these tongues does not induce sin, only speaking them.
 | |||
 | |||
 | ===Yielding=== | ||
 | '''Leaving combat'''
 | |||
 | *Species: Relative | ||
 | *Domain: Aversa | ||
 | |||
 | Whenever you leave the scene of a battle in which you are engaged, by whatever means and for whatever reason, your soul suffers the sin of yielding. If this seems an unjust judgment in the case of one's removal from the scene by accident or enemy action, keep in mind that a sin is not an evaluation of or commentary upon one's motives, but a straightforward spiritual consequence of certain events under certain conditions. It does not matter why you departed the battle, only that the departure occurred.

Sins
Sins are marks upon one's soul which separate one from the grace of Lord Yehovah, and so must be cleansed through the sacrament of confession. Every sin is brought into being by an action or event which would, in the perfect world which Yehovah labors ceaselessly to bring about, either be absent entirely (in which case the sin is called an absolute sin) or be purified of the negative significance which makes it spiritually divisive in the present, imperfect world (these being relative sins).
Do not think that bearing sin upon your soul lessens the love that Lord Yehovah has for you; rather, He is as the shepherd who seeks after the lost sheep, to bring it back into the fold. When the world is made perfect, there will be no sin, but Lord Yehovah knows well that in this fallen world, sin is inevitable. He requires only that you properly purify yourself of these blemishes, not that you utterly refrain from accumulating them. Indeed, it can be said that without sin, the infinite grace and forgiveness of Lord Yehovah could not find expression, which makes sin and confession a miraculous thing: a way in which the actions of mortals may bring the attributes of divinity to fuller fruition.
However, there are some sins which, in order to act in a loving manner toward Him who loves us most fully, we should avoid with all of our hearts.
These few sins, so injurious to our souls that they cause pain and sorrow to Lord Yehovah Himself, are called anathema, while the remainder of the sins are called aversa. No sin is to be taken on lightly, but anathema are a heavy burden indeed.
The degree of a sin is called its cardinality. See 'help confession' for specifics on the significance of this.
The sins and the events which inflict them upon one's soul are:
- Apostasy, slaying the faithful of Yehovah
- Bibulism, drinking intoxicating beverages
- Concupiscence, engaging in lascivious and adulterous physical contact
- Discord, allowing chaos into one's soul
- Errantry, leaving the Prime plane
- Fantasy, indulging in fantasy
- Gnosis, studying forbidden lore
- Hedonism, experiencing sensual pleasure
- Lascivity, engaging in lascivious physical contact

Quiescence
Allowing time to pass unproductively
- Species: Relative
- Domain: Aversa
It is well-known that hands left to idleness may soon turn to unhallowed work. It does not matter why you departed the battle, only that the departure occurred.
Conversely to this, if one attempts to depart combat and fails, no sin of yielding results.
