Individuals with the trait of autodidacticism are able to develop their abilities in areas of their choosing, independently of instructional support. For example, with one point of this trait, one could become a first-degree sword specialist without any ordinary access to specialization in that skill, or one could specialize to third degree in first aid when one only has specialty access in that skill to the second degree. With two points, one could specialize two degrees higher in one skill than would otherwise be possible, or one degree higher in two skills, and so on. However, if a specialty is forbidden or inaccessible to one for whatever reason, autodidacticism does not allow one to get past that. To specify that you wish to use your autodidacticism points in selecting a specialty, give the command as an override, appending a ! to the end; for example, 'set specialty degree in sword to 2!'. |
