Determine location gives you a coordinate followed by the area you are in: x, y, z in <area>. x is east/west: the higher the number, the more east. y is north/south: the higher the number, the more north. z is up/down: the higher the number, the higher you are.
The global coordinates are not used by most of the players, so familiarize yourself with the general locations of the larger areas on the Locations and Landmarks webpage.
