Sins are marks upon one's soul which separate one from the grace of Lord Yehovah, and so must be cleansed through the sacrament of confession. Every sin is brought into being by an action or event which would, in the perfect world which Yehovah labors ceaselessly to bring about, either be absent entirely (in which case the sin is called an absolute sin) or be purified of the negative significance which makes it spiritually divisive in the present, imperfect world (these being relative sins).

Do not think that bearing sin upon your soul lessens the love that Lord Yehovah has for you; rather, He is as the shepherd who seeks after the lost sheep, to bring it back into the fold. When the world is made perfect, there will be no sin, but Lord Yehovah knows well that in this fallen world, sin is inevitable. He requires only that you properly purify yourself of these blemishes, not that you utterly refrain from accumulating them. Indeed, it can be said that without sin, the infinite grace and forgiveness of Lord Yehovah could not find expression, which makes sin and confession a miraculous thing: a way in which the actions of mortals may bring the attributes of divinity to fuller fruition.

However, there are some sins which, in order to act in a loving manner toward Him who loves us most fully, we should avoid with all of our hearts.

These few sins, so injurious to our souls that they cause pain and sorrow to Lord Yehovah Himself, are called anathema, while the remainder of the sins are called aversa. No sin is to be taken on lightly, but anathema are a heavy burden indeed.

The degree of a sin is called its cardinality. See 'help confession' for specifics on the significance of this.

The sins and the events which inflict them upon one's soul are:
