Though the elevation of essence that comes with long use of a Ring of Power is perhaps its greatest boon, as the years march on, a Ringwielder can begin to pine for what sie had once taken for granted. Showing Ahrikol's solicitous care of those who wear his rings, activation of the rune tlemariz can temporarily return even a highly evolved Ringwielder's metabolism to mortal functioning, allowing hir to briefly partake of ordinary sustenance as sie once did.
