Set Terrain Following Mode
General-Use Movement Setting Usage: set terrain following mode <on|off> Sets whether you will attempt to follow terrain when moving. Having terrain following mode on means, for example, that if you are on a hill, with a forest to the north, so that the room directly to your north is the treetops of the forest and the 'northdown' room is the forest floor, a move 'north' will be turned into a 'northdown' move. Your movement will only be changed toward the up and down directions by terrain following. Terrain following is not limited to following the ground; in general, you will try to stay in terrain that has the same general accessibility as that you are in. So if you are flying in open air, and there are treetops to the south, trying to move south will result in your moving 'southup' to stay in the open air. If the upward and downward movement options are equally good, you will always prefer to move downward. Terrain following can always be prevented for an individual move, or an entire use of the 'go' command, by specifying the command as an override. See Also: show terrain following mode, switch terrain following mode, report terrain following mode, go, override
