Ven Gal Lyrl

This is a male elf with black skin, black hair, and glowing red eyes.  The name of Ven Gal Lyrl is
well-known to the folk of Lost Souls.  In the early days after the fall of the Altrian Empire, he
was renowned for his bold and selfless deeds in holding back the turmoil that gripped the world.
At first, he used only his native abilities, but when he accepted Ahrikol's offer of a Ring of
Power, his efforts reached proportions which have now become legend.  Despite his best efforts,
however, the fragments of what had been the Altrian Empire fell to squabbling and chaos, and with
time his great deeds became solely a matter of history, not current account.  The reason why he
has ceased to pursue the hero's path is sometimes speculated upon, but no clear answer is known.
He is surrounded by an amorphous field of cold bluish energy and is surrounded by a shimmering,
transparent sphere of force.  His body seems strangely insubstantial, with his surroundings dimly
visible through him.
He looks about nineteen dimins tall, four and nineteen twentieths dimins wide and one and a
quarter dimins long.  
He wields an adamantite longsword in his right hand and a lightning claw in his left hand.
He wears a large black iron hauberk on his body, a large black iron helm on his head, a large
red-lacquered ashwood amulet of fire retribution around his neck and a large obsidian-set gold
ring on his right hand.

You know this large obsidian-set gold ring for a Ring of Power created by Ahrikol, Lord of the
Rings, Master of the Ringwielders, to both enslave and empower his chosen servants and help spread
his dominion across the world.  The quality of its craftsmanship is exquisite.  The polished
surface of its gold band is etched with loads ofstrange, mystical runes, resembling these diagrams:

Aside from the runes, the smooth surface is without mark or blemish.  It is permeated by a dim
auroric radiance.  You estimate its value at about eight hundred forty gold.  
It is in perfect condition.  It is large in size, and looks just about right to fit you.  It
appears to you as if it was crafted for an elf.  It looks about a twentieth of a dimin across and
a tenth of a dimin around.  It weighs very little.
