Known Abilities

Pyxai are native to the plane of Exoma, and by themselves they are formidable predators. They have a breath attack that deals chaos damage, is extremely accurate, and does very high damage. They have the expected claw and bite attacks of a typical feline as well. They can breathe water and can run rather quickly, but cannot fly and do not have night vision.

Imagined

You experience feelings of shrewdness, conceit, and panache.
You experience visions of panoplies of impossible colors.

Petting the Familiar

You pet Felix with your right hand.
You sense elemental energies flowing from Felix's body into your spirit.

This replenishes 1 spellpoint per action and provides a modest increase to elemental resistance skills.

Attribute Modifications

Bonding to a pyx grants a very large bonus to Dexterity, moderate bonuses to Intelligence and Perception, and a small bonus to Constitution.

Specialty Bonuses and Access

Bonus specialty degrees and access are provided as follows:

Tier 1

At "very healthy" bond strength, the first tier bonus specialties are increased to 2.
About midway into deep, Tier 1 specialties gain an additional bonus.
Nearing the end of nearly complete, Tier 1 specialty bonuses are raised to 4.

Tier 2

Towards the end of "very frail" bond strength:

At most of the way through nearly complete, Tier 2 specialties gain another bonus spec.

Tier 3

These bonus specialties are granted either just before, or just after, the Tier 4 group:

Partway through nearly complete, Tier 3 specialties gain an additional bonus.

Tier 4

At the middle of "fairly healthy" bond strength:

Partway through nearly complete, Tier 4 specialties gain an additional bonus.

  • Note: Tier 3 and Tier 4 bonuses seemed to come simultaneously for me, so may be the same tier. --Esmene 13:50, 21 January 2012 (EST)

Tier 5

At the middle of "very healthy" bond strength:

Tier 6

Late in "very healthy" bond strength, a number of resistance skills are added that require free specialty points. These are not granted as bonus specialties. If none are free, the bond will attempt to make free specialty points by de-specializing other skills (possibly important ones). These are:

(...and possibly others)

Tier 7

At "resilient" bond strength, the bond will attempt to add more resistance skills, which again require free specialty points. If none are free, the bond will attempt to make free whatever is required:

(possibly others)

  • Note: I did not gain any access to psychic integrity. --Esmene 13:50, 21 January 2012 (EST)

Tier 8

Partway into intimate:

Also at "resilient" bond strength, the second tier bonus specialties are increased to 2.

Charms

Pyxai are good socializers and are able to convince other pyxai into following their consort. Initially the pyx grants the following charms:

Shortly after:

At "very healthy" bond strength:

At "resilient" bond strength:

At intimate:

  • The ability to infuse an item with chaotic energies.

Additional Bonuses and Powers

Towards the end of "very healthy" bond strength, the pyx grants a breathe attack that does chaos damage, and a phlogiston reserve that can be viewed with the command "show phlogiston reserves". The attack uses the Eructation skill for both attack rating and damage. The phlogiston reserve can be recharged with the replenish glands charm, granted at "resilient" bond strength.

Chakra

The kalila chakra of the pyx consort is periodically charged.

Traits granted

Chaos favour will naturally come along with the specialties in chaos affinity.

The consort's Somatic Adaptability also increases with this bond, amounting to +3 at complete.
