The 'Northlands' is a term used to describe the predominantly unexplored, and presumedly uncivilized, region to the north of Almeria. It is the only known region of the continent Wintercrest; it has no centralized government, and contains only remnants of its colonization by the Altrian Empire. What few semi-civilized areas in the Northlands that have been discovered are extremely isolated, insular, and self-regulated. The main resources of the region are the wood from the dense forests of conifers, the pelts of the plentiful fur-bearing animals (most of which have grown to immense sizes), and a variety of herbs and magickal reagents (notably fresh moss and black sand).
