Overview

  • Most potions must be imbibed to gain their effects.
  • Very few potions can be used more than once.
  • Most potions leave a glass vial in your inventory after use. These glass vials will be destroyed if thrown (so as not to leave trash lying around).
  • Certain Dietary situations prevent one from drinking a potion.
    • Sanguivore
    • Incendivore
    • Ametabolic
  • There are several methods for overcoming these dietary prohibitions.
    • Ioun of Nature's Reverie
      • Activating this Ioun, among other things, will make you a Photovore.
      • May only be activated by a race considered organic in nature.
    • Bond to a Swan
      • At a high enough bond strength, you will become a Photovore.
    • Join The Aligned
      • The form Osmosis will allow you to drink most potions, but not all.
    • Join Ordo Ignis Aeternis
      • The spell Fire Wine will make any consumable item capable of being eaten by an incendivore. The spell Immolate will make you an incendivore, if you are not one already.
    • Once Ring Wielders become ametabolic, the only apparent way it can be temporarily reversed is by using the rune tlemariz. Note that this will only restore your natural diet, and seems to interfere with other means of changing your diet.

Static Potions

  • These are potions with specifically defined names and effects.

Potion of Metacognition

This is a small, stoppered green glass vial full of dark blue liquid. This potion of metacognition will, when drunk,
amplify the activity in the centers of the user's brain concerned with psionic activity, boosting his abilities in
these areas. These effects last for a considerable period of time.

Potion of Powercraft

This is a small, stoppered green glass vial full of yellow liquid with thin
streamers of white weaving through it. This is potion of powercraft will,
when drunk, enhance the user's abilities at power control for a considerable
length of time.
  • Buffs power control skills, possibly others.
  • Lasts 10-15 minutes.

Potion of Spellcraft

This is a small, stoppered green glass vial full of dark violet liquid with tiny glowing motes of red suspended in it.
This potion of spellcraft will, when drunk, enhance the user's abilities in the magickal arts for a considerable
length of time.

Potion of Linguistic Cunning

This is a small, stoppered green glass vial full of hot pink liquid. This potion of linguistic cunning will, when
drunk, amplify the activity in the centers of the user's brain concerned with linguistic activity, boosting his
abilities in these areas. These effects last for a considerable period of time.
  • Always Bright Pink.
  • Buffs 40 to all known language skills. 100 (double check this) to Linguistics. Possibly others.
  • Lasts 10-15 minutes.

Potion of Heroism

A small cork-stoppered green glass vial containing a blood-red liquid. This is a Potion of Heroism, an alchemical
formulation that temporarily enhances the imbiber's abilities.
  • Always Blood-Red.
  • Buff to all attributes, many skills, and other benefits.
  • Lasts about 1-5 minutes?

Power Potion

description here
  • Reward for completing The Power Potion Quest.
  • Can be imbibed regardless of diet.
  • Only works once per character. Subsequent Power Potions will have no effect.
  • Grants a massive boost to practically everything.
  • Very high awakening chance (chance to grant a talent), which is guaranteed for psychic races.
  • Lasts 1-2 hours?

Potions of Alignment Infusion

A small cork-stoppered green glass vial containing a pearlescent liquid. This is a pearlescent potion of alignment
infusion, a potion which aligns the spirit of the drinker toward whatever idealistic principle the potion contains.
This process alters the drinker's ethical and ordinal outlook to a significant degree, as well as infusing the
drinker's body with energies related to the principle contained therein. Long-term use of such potions can
permanently affect the drinker's beliefs and predispositions as well as their fundamental nature. This particular
pearlescent potion of alignment infusion appears to be aligned to the principles of goodness. It is permeated by a
dim auroric radiance. You estimate its value at about one thousand five hundred gold.
  • Added in change 6723.
  • Comes in four varieties, aligning with good/evil and chaos/order. Rumors of a secret fifth and sixth variety are likely overstated.

Curan Potions

  • Do a writeup on these. I forget what they do or how good they are or if they've been nerfed since I last abused them.
  • There are like a bunch of varieties
