This skill represents the infusion of an essence of the amalgam light into the substance of one's body, reducing the harm caused by such forces, potentially even to the point where exposure becomes restorative. This is also true, to a lesser extent, of extropy, elemental fire, and the amalgams metal, heat, crystal, lightning, magma, smoke, and shadow. One further gains the capacity to store a reserve of amalgamal light energy, in proportion to one's degree of affinity, should one have access to sources of it. However, the greater an affinity for light one develops, the more vulnerable one becomes to the amalgam darkness, and to a lesser degree entropy, elemental water, and the amalgams ash, cold, eskara, void, mist, mud, and salt.
