The iaman race was created through artifice and magery. Science and sorcery combined the characteristics of two species, one commonly known -- human -- and another that was, at the time, only recently discovered -- iaoxi. Drow supernatural ability and pioneering human ingenuity fused these two races into a single, viable breed. The reasons why this was done are to this day unknown.
The iaman race is underpopulated relative to other species common to Almeria, and so reasonably unknown. Most mistake them as human. Until the iaman people escaped from captivity into the world, they were only known to a select few drow and human elites involved in their creation. Now that they are free, they are known not to be open to captivity of any kind.
Like humans, iamen are a curious people, quick to mature, lacking many of the specialized capabilities of other races. However, one trait that distinctly separates human and iaman kind is blood: iamen have the natural iaoxi armament of acid blood, as well as glands in their body that allow them to spit acid. This ability is prized among them as the one that afforded them their escape from captivity.
Their other half -- their iaoxi heritage -- is not as clearly evident in them, so long as they are not bleeding. Their lifespans are known to be superior to humans, but this combined with their human curiosity means iamen assimilate new experiences only somewhat less effectively than humans do. Perhaps their greatest gift lies hidden within them; the gift of the iaoxi instinct for hunting, tracking and killing. Iamen have lungs which resemble those of their iaoxi counterparts, enabling them to breathe both in and out of water. While iamen look fully human, their bones are metallic, their teeth glint in the light, and their hair, eyes and fingernails tend to be an odd color from a human standpoint. Their fortified bone structure affords them muscles which are much like those of the iaoxi -- strong and fast. The iaoxi ability to operate without external sensory organs has imbued the iamen with the ability to operate without the use of their human senses, making them increasingly effective in combat.
The odd part about the iamen is that they still feel an affinity to the iaoxi hive, and feel human affection towards it, even if it also terrifies them. On the other hand, the iaoxi treat iamen like any other species -- as potential hosts to be impregnated and killed.
In order to become an iaman, you must have achieved the status of Hero.
