Outline
'Help Armour' provides a basic outline - the bare bones of how armour works and how to use it - but not so much about what it does in hard numbers. In this guide I will attempt to gather relevant information about armour's usage as well as outline basic concepts behind armour, strategies for using it effectively, and factors to consider when choosing what you wear.
...it is still very much a work in progress. Up-to-date information is appreciated.
The Basics
Mechanics
[OOC Starhound] it gives you AC which negates incoming damage, the AC it gives tends to depend on the materials, amount of body covered, ect [OOC Starhound] more advanced items also come with other things, like resistence bonuses
Strategies
Piecemeal Vs. Suit
You might assume that wearing a fully integrated one-piece suit of armour will be flatly superior to wearing the individual pieces one at a time, but the peculiarities of Lost Souls' limb system mean that losing your left foot will rip your fancy titanium full plate-and-mail armor right off of your body. In short, fewer pieces of larger armor offer consistency and generally reduced keep cost, while more numerous pieces of smaller armor allow flexibility and are less likely to completely fail on a lost limb.
Mobility vs. Absorption
Factors
Repairs
Not all smiths are equal! Some lack the skill to work on certain forms and materials. Generally, if a smith sells it or resizes it, they'll fix it.
Resizing
Lucky me, this has its own article.
