Description
The Ulfhednar, commonly known as wolf warriors, are a small clan of berserkers from the land of Gardagh. They worship both Hati and Skoll, the childen of Fenrir. Along with a devotion to Odin himself, these warriors are often heralded as death incarnate on the battlefield, showing exceptional leadership and tactics in their engagements.
Often found with large packs of canines and wolves, these hunters primarily fight in packs, utilizing brute force and sheer numbers to conquer foes. The direct and highest use of Ulfhednar are as guardians and safekeepers, often being chosen to protect the yarls of the region from civil war and assassination. However in times of war and conflict, Ulfhednar have been known to be sent out to resolve battles quickly and decisively.
Within the Ulfhednar, a pyramid of recognition existed which is referred to as Kunnandi. Wolf warriors reach levels of advancement and prowess in both combat and leadership, being alloted the ability to expand their hunting party and have greater say in their designated engagements or contractual obligations to yarls.

Kunnandi
Kunnandi are designated levels of achievements within the Ulfhednar. They are often regarded as statuses or ranking within the clan.
Einn
The first kunnandi of all Ulfhednar, is to be alone. A wolf warrior must brave the world alone during this journey to understand the value of kinship.
- 2 bonus specs in hardiness, killer instinct, massive blow, massive exertion, recuperation, and stamina
Styrkr
The second kunnandi a Ulfhednar can accomplish. Realizing the strength of the pack, a warrior is able to form an empathic bond with a mundane canine to build and hone their martial prowess. Additionally, an Ulfhednar of this kunnandi can empower both themselves and their pack automatically during combat; such empowerments pass the berserkergang on to any canine companions fighting with the Ulfhednar, as well as increasing their physical strength, speed, and vitality by a measure corresponding to the size and strength of the pack. Members of the pack will also gain substantial combat advantage commensurate with the Ulfhednar's effective Leadership, Tactics, and Empathy. Lastly, an Ulfhednar of this rank will automatically cease berserking at the end of combat, along with their entire pack, if their berserkergang is deactivated.
- Martial Soulbond unlocks, canine no anthropic/no extraplanar - you are probably gonna want a dog or some sort for this.
- 1 bonus spec in axe, brawling, dagger, hammer, killer instinct, pole arm, shield, spear, sword, unarmed combat, and wrestling
- Bonuses to combat advantage while in a pack
Drottinn
The third kunnandi, which begins the transition of the role of the Ulfhednar from a warrior into a leader. This achievement results in the ability to form a sovereign bond with a mundane canine, allowing the creation of much larger packs.Additionally, the Ulfhednar gains the power to pass wingless flight along to the other members of their pack if they possess it.
- Sovereign Soulbond unlocks, canine no anthropic/no extraplanar
- 2 bonus specs in intimidation, leadership, and tactics
Systkin
The fourth kunnandi, expanding the Ulfhednars' pack further. This level of devotion results in the ability to manifest a fractional empathic bond with a fourth mundane canine, empowering all the Ulfhednar's capabilities in a well-rounded manner.
- Fractional Soulbond unlocks, canine no anthropic/no extraplanar
- 1 bonus spec in empathy
Foringi
The fifth kunnandi, representing worldliness and wisdom, empowers the Ulfhednar to add a mystic wolf to his pack -- a spirit guide to demonstrate their worthiness to all. Such a familiar must be chosen from among the rarer forms of canines, such as extraplanar or supernal beings, but grants increased power to the Ulfhednar as a result.
- Another Fractional Soulbond unlocks, for canine extraplanar/supernal
- 1 bonus spec in animal lore, introspection, meditation, and spirit lore.
Fylkir
The sixth and final Kunnandi an Ulfhednar can reach, representing the status of 'wolf king' and supreme leader of the pack. This advancement brings with it supreme mastery of the battlefield and its environs, as well as the power of command and great ferocity in combat.
- No new bond unlock.
- 4 bonus specs in killer instinct
- 2 bonus specs in aquatic fieldcraft, arctic fieldcraft, awareness, cold tolerance, desert fieldcraft, Exoma fieldcraft, foraging, forestry, heat tolerance, hills fieldcraft, infernal fieldcraft, jungle fieldcraft, mountaineering, orienteering, plains fieldcraft, shorelands fieldcraft, sky fieldcraft, space fieldcraft, spelunking, streetwise, swamp fieldcraft, tracking, and Umbral fieldcraft.
- 2 bonus specs in empathy, leadership, and tactics.

Unlocking Kunnandi
Ranks unlock entirely based on how much experience you have gained since joining the guild. (NB: Styrkr unlocked ~15 levels in with 7 assim while Drottinn appeared ~25 levels after Styrkr. Systkin was then ~20 levels after Drottinn. Apparently the sixth and final kunnandi is unlocked at +225 levels of experience based on a kobold's assim.) (Normal assim 10 human that joined at level 1 unlocked Strykr at 24.)
On an ardhalokh with -2 assim, unlocks occurred as follows: Styrkr at level 10, Drottinn at level 26, Systkin at level 43, Foringi at level 60, Fylkir at level 76.
[OOC Marcosy] basically if you are a 0 assim race, you gain unlocks at 300% speed [OOC Marcosy] if you are -10 to -19 assim, 400%, and 500% if you are -20 or lower [OOC Aummius] oh so it isn't "if you're amberite you unlock everything in 10 levels" as i had expected [OOC Marcosy] not quite [OOC Marcosy] but it's pretty close [OOC Marcosy] 10 amberite levels is 50 kobold levels for the purposes of ulf progression [2023 Oct 22 21:17] [OOC Marcosy] let's be clear, it's still an awful mechanic compared to like Warbreakers, where joining at level 1 and joining at level 300 requires the exact same xp to unlock the exact same rewards [2023 Oct 22 21:17] [OOC Marcosy] but it's less bad than it was [2023 Oct 22 21:18] [OOC Marcosy] but yeah joining ulf at level 1 is the obvious power move [2023 Oct 22 21:18] [OOC Guardas] yup [2023 Oct 22 21:18] [OOC Marcosy] if you join as a level 1 amberite, you unlock everything at about level 45 [2023 Oct 22 21:19] [OOC Guardas] which is....alright [2023 Oct 22 21:19] [OOC Marcosy] the general 'correct' pacing is human, which maxes out at ~112 levels [2023 Oct 22 21:19] [OOC Marcosy] not easy, but not hard either [2023 Oct 22 21:19] [OOC Marcosy] especially without the kill log [Guardas] well 45 is easier than 100. there's still a slog between about 40-100 generally [2023 Oct 22 21:20] [OOC Marcosy nods] [2023 Oct 22 21:20] [OOC Marcosy] xp gets weird at higher levels [2023 Oct 22 21:20] [OOC Guardas] where you can't kill the bigger mobs so you're stuck with vargan and middle gurbo [2023 Oct 22 21:20] [OOC Marcosy] a lot of that is going to be dependent upon a bunch of weird factors like your guild and your bond selection though [2023 Oct 22 21:20] [OOC Guardas] yeah [2023 Oct 22 21:21] [OOC Guardas] but that's the norma mid-level slog [2023 Oct 22 21:21] [OOC Marcosy] if you have a really stronk bond from around level 12ish as a human, you can kill a lot of stuff you normally couldn't get near [OOC Guardas] because we don't have a ton of 5k-10k mobs or 10k-15k mobs [OOC Marcosy] if you're bonding a pet store terrier, though, not so much [OOC Guardas] yeah bearhound works well for that [OOC Marcosy] which was the ulf meta for a LONG time because you could carry like 5 of them [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Guardas] well tbh you had no choice because you couldn't get them around otherwise [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Marcosy] and just like huck your swarm of berserk little chihuahuas at everything [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Guardas] btw you made that more effective with the speed nerf [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Marcosy] probably [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Guardas] activity soak is the new way to kill shit [2023 Oct 22 21:22] [OOC Marcosy] does not surprise me
Tips
As Ulfhednar are a multi-bond guild, it is wise to take care in what you bond in the various bond slots. One thing to consider is that the Ulfhednar bonds all-together give a skill bonus equivalent to a Partial bond (50%). This means, at high bond strength, you will get a good amount of spec access, and decent bond skill bonus, as long as you choose bonds that have overlapping skills. Bonds that give a large variety of skills include dog, eishund, fox, and hellhound. By comparison, coyote, spark dog, orthros, warg, and wolf give fewer skills. It's important to have a plan or theme in mind for your Ulfhednar and build your character accordingly.
Another thing to consider is the speed at which your bonds grow and how important the order in which you bond your familiars is. Bond growth speed works by prioritizing the bonds that are higher in your list of bonds as you fill your bonds. If you fill all your slots, the first bond slot (marital) will have the highest growth speed, and the last bond (fractional extraplanar) will have the slowest growth speed. Getting your last bond to grow will be very difficult if you have all your other bond slots filled. Keeping this in mind, if you wish to maximize your bond granted spec access and skill bonuses, it is a good idea to fill the extraplanar fractional bond (20% skills) first, work on it till it is high overmax strength, then fill the mundane fractional (20% skills), then the martial bond (which gives 10% skills), and finally the sovereign bond (0% skills). If on the other hand, you want to have a powerful companion to help you in combat, then you will want to fill the sovereign bond first, then work on the skill granting bonds later in the following order, extraplanar first, then mundane fractional, and finally martial.
Also, a shirt of second self is very useful in speeding up your bond growth.
