Bonding Requirements

Some amount of both discipline and empathy seems to be required.

I needed about 120 skill points in Empathy, while needing about 80 in Discipline. Empathy is the main concern. - Cinna, 3:28 PM PST, 12-24-12

Known Abilities

Attribute Modifications

Those who form an empathic bond with swans receive bonuses to their Intelligence, Dexterity, Charisma and Perception.

Specialty Bonuses

Bonus specialty degrees and access are provided as follows:

Tier 1

Tier 2

At the middle of "fairly healthy" bond strength:

At "very healthy" bond strength, Light Affinity bonus specialty is increased to 2.

Tier 5

At the middle of "very healthy" bond strength:

Late in "very healthy" bond strength, the Archery and Sword bonus specialties are increased to 2.

Tier 6

In "robust" bond strength:

Later in "robust" bond strength:

At "resilent" bond strength, the third tier bonus specialties are increased to 2.

Tier 8

Fairly early in "deep" bond strength, additional bonus to manipulation and Light Affinity.

Mid to late very deep bond strength, additional bonus to sword and archery

Early/middle of "intimate" bond strength, bonus to dirty fighting, killer instinct, legend lore, recuperation, stealth, centering, centering, stamina, hardiness


Tier 10

Early "nearly complete" bond strength, bonus to illusion, precision strike, tactics, combat reflexes, meditation

Middle "nearly complete" bond strength, bonus to balance, sky fieldcraft, dancing, dodge, quickness, discipline, lumiturgy

Not long thereafter in "nearly complete", bonus to manipulation, light affinity

Charms

  • Channel spiritual energy into the familiar from oneself
  • Channel spiritual energy out of the familiar to oneself
  • Lightveil, enchant ordinary arrows with radiant energy
  • Convert spiritual energy into radiant energy
  • Cloudweave, the ability to enchant a staff (or similar object) with the power of the clouds, enabling its holder to fly.
  • Starsee
  • Lightgarb, the ability to encase one's body in a protective sheath of light. The light will attempt to absorb damage by drawing on one's radiant energy.
  • The ability to recall your conjured followers to your side. To do this, concentrate on recalling the desired follower or followers.
  • Summon a light spirit
  • Rarify your form and become intangible
  • Excite a light elemental to attack faster for a brief period of time before burning out and exploding in a burst of light, potentially harming/healing everyone in the area.
  • Visual Displacement the ability to make it appear as though one is standing several dimins from one's actual location. (Around middle of Very Deep)
  • Summon a light amalgamal, a much more powerful version of a light spirit (around middle of intimate)
  • The ability to become Invisible (at complete bond)

Additional Abilities

Swan familiars open and charge the Anahata chakra and Muladhara chakra periodically and provide several special sword attacks which utilize radiant energy, and one which is usable without swords.

The crescent attack is a photonic-based attack that adds light affinity , lumiturgy to its hit rating, also adds Telesmatic weapon and requires a normal-sized sword to use.

Lux Veritas channels the light of truth through your sword strike (Seems to have combined ray of intense light and shaft of true sunlight)

Stellar Twist and Solar Coil are similar to crescent and use Light affinity, Lumiturgy, Telesmatic weapon and more. And are gained at near complete bond. Stellar Twist may only be used at night and Solar Coil during the day.

Traits Granted

Appears to grant Ambidexterity. Around 1/3 way in resilient bond, diet changes to photovore.
