The aviar are commonly thought to be one part man, one part hawk, having the bodies of tall, slender humans with great feathered wings spreading from their backs; whether this is the truth of their origin is a matter of conjecture. They most commonly live in small tribal settlements clinging to high places where their ability to fly grants them superior mobility. As their bones are hollow, like those of birds, they often need to cultivate such advantages to compensate for a certain fragility of body. This is not to say that these folk lack courage, as anyone can attest who has seen an aviar hunting party, armed with simple spears and bows, bring down a wild drake.
