Lost Souls Specific Terms and Acronyms
A
Adventuring Company
The organization of players on Lost Souls roughly equivalent to clans and guilds elsewhere
Affiliation
A term that encompasses guilds, associations, faculties, and offices.
Almeria
The continent that most of the action centers around, also known as the "main map"
Anthrope
Roughly human-like creature; see 'help anthrope' in-game
Areas <location>
A courtesy announcement that someone is using area attacks that may affect bystanders wandering through, most commonly seen on the OOC channel
AOLP
Amulet of Life Protection, an item that attempts to save your life if you are about to die. See also LP.
Association
Similar to a guild, but where normally a character can only belong to one guild, there is no inherent limit on the number of associations one can join
Atman
The 'oversoul' or user account that your incarnoi are attached to. One atman/account can have a large number of incarnoi/characters attached to it. Plural: atmai.
Autonomon
A technical term, normally used only by developers, for a non-player character. Contrasts with incarnos. Plural: autonomoi.

A mini-quest that Travelers can bestow upon others. Challenges involve an obstacle (e.g. unluckiness) and a goal (e.g. gain experience). Players eagerly seek challenges because their successful completion bestows rewards.

Combat meditation, a hidden skill

Conceptual navigation, an occurrence of teleportation

Diabolical/Chaotic, maximally evil and chaotic alignment. Usually associated with grouping or associations. Diametrically opposite of SO.

Dekan
Standard Lost Souls unit of mass, equal to a kilogram, which is about two and a fifth pounds
Dimin
Standard Lost Souls unit of distance, equal to a decimeter — ten centimeters, about four inches — making someone 15 dimins tall slightly under five feet and someone 18 dimins tall slightly under six feet

To quit out of Lost Souls (normally going to the atman menu)

A form of self-mutilation in which one deletes one's character or entire atman because one is so very martyred by some transitory inconvenience one has suffered. The behavior appears in many contexts, and is probably best known by the term 'ragequit', but the term 'emodelete' was first coined on Lost Souls by Erebus.

A semi-fictitious entity manifesting in the tendency of experienced developers to make similar responses simultaneously

The act of disincarnating and then reincarnating again. Often to check to see if a brief problem is fixed, or to benefit from a new change. Not really a LS specific term, but used often in LS.
