Advenus

The strange advenus are a race descended from [human]s, and much despised by their parent race. They possess unusual powers of the mind, and are especially gifted at the arts of healing. Nearly every advenus develops one or more psychic abilities through the course of his life, and their affinity for esoteric disciplines extends to talents at magery as well. Humans once coexisted with advenus peacefully, but later grew to hate and fear them for their powers. Some humans are accepting of advenus, but the majority are still filled with hatred. This is most unfortunate for the advenus, for they are generally a peaceloving people who lack much of the aggression of their human forebears. If they escape human violence, advenus often live for 100 years or more.

Attuned as the advenus are to the energies of life and to magickal symbolism, it comes as little surprise that if one wishes to slay a advenus, the appropriate weapon to use is one of bone, and necromantic techniques are anathema to their sensitive life energies. These vulnerabilities have been exploited to deadly effect by the enemies of the race over the ages. They also have something of a weakness in that their learning rate is much slower than that of shorter-lived, more aggressive pure-strain humans.
