Overview

  • Item infusion is the process of infusing items with a particular type of energy, replacing some of its composite mundane material with more exotic substances.
  • The advantages of infusing items is that some of the properties of the item are derived from the materials from which it's composed. Most notably:
    • Colour.
    • Weight (Usually a reduction).
    • Durability (Usually an increase, making infused items less breakable).
    • Defensive and offensive properties of armour/weapons.
    • Flammability (Usually a reduction).
    • Does NOT currently affect weapon damage types (Order Infusion will not cause an iron sword to do order damage, it will however cause it to do *more* damage because Lexoth is a sturdier material than iron).
    • Applies certain properties to items based on the material infused (depending on the use case and the property, this may be an advantage or disadvantage).
  • Some items such as Pibrits, and Eolian Anklets have other properties partially derived from their material composition. (Anklets give bigger boost when chaos infused but also drain more sp. Pibrits restore much sp/end/hp when infused with anything).
  • Note: Infusion is not always an across-the-board improvement in item characteristics. For example, infusing most clothing will result in a net increase in the encumbrance penalty from wearing the clothing.

Broad infusion types available to players

  • Note: Materials listed below as a result of a particular infusion only show the solid phase of the material. Mundane materials will generally be replaced with materials of the same phase, so infusing a liquid with chaos will result in an item composed primarily of xomaras, rather than xorakas (for example).

Cardinal

  • Energy potency: 5

Holy

  • Results in items partially composed of kedusham.
  • Devonshire Clerics could bless items. Maybe not possible anymore.

  • Some empathic bonds give access to a charm. Pyx? I don't know.
  • Spending time in the Exoma can incur many different random events, many of which are quite dangerous. At least one of these events will result in held/worn/inventory items being partially chaos infused.
    • Interestingly, this has been known to infuse things which shouldn't be infusable
  • Vials of Lanmorathic poured on items will infuse to an extent.
  • Some weapons are known to destroy objects of chaos on contact. This may include items composed partially/primarily of xorakas.

Limited infusions/enchantments

  • Some powers are capable of infusing only particular types of objects. These also tend to affect the effects of things, such as carrion bird's exploding darkness arrows.
  • Note that these infusions can change damage types and in some cases, change the amount of uses an item has due to the arrow exploding into damaging energy upon contact or otherwise.
  • These infusions tend to be tied to enchantment effects, such as bond arrow infusion charms, where the infusion is more of a secondary consequence of the enchantment, and where the item will revert to its normal composition if the enchantment is removed somehow.
